Introducing… The Durant Report

Since everyone’s new favorite basketball player is Kevin Durant, I have decided that every Sunday I will give a report on Kevin Durant on how far he is from chasing his milestones. Obviously it’s offseason so Kevin Durant won’t be adding any points to his point total but it’s interesting to see how far along he is now.

Currently Kevin Durant is 21. He will be 22 when the season starts.

Kevin’s career points – 5,967

Kareem’s career points – 38,387

Points left – 32,420

Seasons to surpass Kareem if averaging 30 PPG – 13 seasons and 15 games

Seasons to surpass Kareem if averaging 33 PPG – 11 seasons and 81 games

And you might as well compare him to the GOAT.

Jordan’s career points – 32,292

Points left – 26,325

Seasons to surpass Jordan if averaging 30 PPG – 10 seasons and 58 games

Seasons to surpass Jordan if averaging 33 PPG – 9 seasons and 60 games

Looks like passing Jordan is a very realistic goal. Kareem not so much. Of course we have to take into account Jordan missing almost 2 seasons during his prime years. But 32,292 is still a very impressive number obviously.

And just one more little stat – points to crack the top 250 (that way we can follow him on this list)

250th player (Connie Hawkins) career points – 11,528

Points left – 5,561

Seasons to surpass Hawkins if averaging 30 PPG – 2 seasons and 22 games

Seasons to surpass Hawkins if averaging 33 PPG – 2 seasons and 1 game

Now excuse me while I watch Kevin Durant put on a clinic against this man known as Hidayet Turkoglu.

Job well done for team USA. Despite the criticisms and put downs they were able to maintain composure and come up with the gold.
