This is still the fun part of the NBA offseason.
Biggest splash so far might be coming soon. It looks like Amare is leaving the Suns and Amare will be going to the Knicks.
Good for Amare… He gets to play with Mike D’Antoni and average beastly numbers again if he doesn’t care about winning, but a stupid move by the Knicks. They’ve been clearing all that cap space and shit and they decide to get Amare fucking Stoudemire. Not that he is a bad player… but he is….
A SECOND BANANA.
More thoughts on free agent signings as they happen. Suns have somewhat plugged in that hole with Hakim Warrick who could be productive under Steve Nash, but Suns really need to think about heading into rebuilding mode. Beasley is one of those guys that are somewhat available and is someone that you could build a reasonable franchise around. I expect Steve Nash to get dealt by the deadline in the upcoming season.
Some other notable moves… Lakers get Steve Blake. Not the greatest move because it isn’t much of an upgrade (if at all) from Fisher, but having another shooter on that level could be bad news for the league. Lakers are pretty much done for their offseason. If they can pick up a young prospect who can ride the bench and eventually crack the rotation it could be useful in the future.
In other news, Bucks have picked up Drew Gooden. Now if you are a reader of my blog, you should know better and know that Drew Gooden is still a legitimate NBA starting Power Forward. He’s one of those guys that are alright on their own but perfect when paired with an elite NBA Center. He will be to Bogut what Udonis Haslem was to Shaq back in Miami. I love the way this Bucks team is set up as their two main guys are both young, and then they have a good collection of veterans.
As someone who has watched a fair share of Warriors games, I know what Maggette brings to the table. At times he’ll be throwing up jump shots (yea and you have Brandon Jennings on that squad) but he’s a guy that can get into the hoop. Warriors offense was kind of messy last season but the current unit that the Bucks have put together should all work out and everyone will become more efficient. I expect the Bucks to become a 50 win team and be a reasonable candidate for the ECF.
And I am very sick and tired of all this “Source says Wade is close to signing with X team” so I refuse to read any of those stupid articles. I am in Illinois right now and about 20 minutes from Chicago so if LeBron does sign with Chicago I will be close to the action.
